Poem · Day 2 of Retreat · Dec 2025
Death
To look away from death is to look away from life.
An eternal slumber
Awaiting us with a warm embrace
To be alive is to be fated to die
Yet so many of us look away
Afraid of what's to come
Without knowing of our fated day
We look away
But you see, life and death
They come in pairs
To look away from death
Is to look away from life
To live in fear of death
Is to live in fear of life itself
So don't look away
Feel her presence that's all around us
A moment passed is one that passed away
Let her be a true warm embrace
Not a helpless struggle of surrender
Live your life with a full embrace
Energized and fully alive
Knowing that you get to die
Knowing that you get to rest
Smiling at your fate
Of an eternal slumber
