Defended
I crave an open sky, no walls to hide behind.
I crave an open sky, no walls to hide behind
A heart laid bare, all emotions welcomed in love
I yearn for tears, trembles, and honest rage
An embraced wildness with no shackles of shame
The freedom to let my passions shine, with glistening eyes and an awe of life
Yet shadows whisper fear of judgements and scorn
A prisoner of doubt, afraid to be open
I usher my heart away from sight
Fortress walls arise and chain the spirit within
A shield from the pain
Total dullness leaving my spirit in pain
A blanket over the rawness of life
I hear screams to be free, battle within
Agitated I live defended in darkness
with glimpses of light when in loves domain
